Finding The Missing Sprites

 I was working on a virtual keyboard and issue I ran into was the sprite sheet missing a few letters.

 This is an issue for the player since they need to be able to read what a key is.

WITH THE MISSING SPRITES

 To get around this till I could find a new sprite sheet or draw the missing letters. I made a temporary button with text. When I was in the process of drawing the missing letters it occurred to me that they were not missing it was just the style of font that made it seem that way.

 While working with Unreal Engine 5 there is a constant ebb and flow with using blueprints. Learning when to utilize the power of blueprints is a true skill. Learning how to use blueprints and script at the same time is an even greater skill. I had a problem this week dealing with the use of a Widget on an actor in the world. The actor was meant to be an NPC the player can interact with and upon being a certain distance from the NPC the player will see the widget show up above the NPC's head. I ended up getting the widget working in blueprint and then set out to convert some of the visual scripting to c++. Things were going well until I started having uses with the widget displaying detached from the NPC. Nothing I did would change the location of the widget. New Engine Layout

Working with a new tool brings challenges. In this case learning the layout of Unreal Engine 5 was and will continue to be an obstacle. For this week I began to work on the player heads up display and user interface. The tools themselves are very similar to the previous version of Unreal Engine, which is what I have the most experience with. However, the layout of the engine is much different. To solve this problem I utilized tutorial videos off of YouTube, the experience of my teammates, and trial and error. The tutorials provided the backbone of what I needed to get started. My teammates did a great job filling the gaps where my trial and error did not work. As I continued to use the new tool, I progressively became more and more comfortable with the new layout and tools available. Animating the Character Smoothly

       This week consisted of me figuring out animations and how to implement them in the character correctly. My main issue at first was that we did not have all the necessary animations for me to complete everything, Perforce also changes all the player model's files to UAssets. This created an issue because I cannot personally go into Mixamo to add different animations to the character. The only one with access to the file was the person who originally uploaded it.     In addition, the attack animations were too high to hit some enemies. Our attack system is based on the sword's movement and the collider is on the sword. Our attack animations were upward motions and with the enemies we have so far, most of them are a little lower to the ground. This made the enemies impossible to hit.
